Small Animal Surgery

The Small Animal Surgery Services at the WSU Veterinary Teaching Hospital are committed to providing the highest quality of care for your pet. Led by board-certified faculty, our surgery teams include clinical residents, interns, licensed veterinary technicians, and fourth-year veterinary students. We work collaboratively with personnel from all services at the WSU Veterinary Teaching Hospital, including anesthesiologists, radiologists, and critical care specialists. Our team approach to veterinary care allows us to provide the best possible treatment options for you and your pet.

We provide all basic surgery services for dogs and cats including a full range of orthopedic and soft tissue surgical procedures.  We specialize in minimally invasive procedures including, but not limited to: arthroscopy, laparoscopy, thoracoscopy, and cystoscopy. WSU also offers transsphenoidal hypophysectomy, a surgery for treatment of pituitary tumors in dogs and cats. WSU is currently the only veterinary hospital in the country offering the transsphenoidal hypophysectomy surgery.

Our surgery team is available Monday through Friday to consult with referring veterinarians. To speak with a surgeon, please contact the surgery Patient Service Coordinator, Kayla Bakke, at 509-335-0711. You can also visit our Frequently Asked Questions page for more information.
