Veterinary Teaching Hospital

Holter monitoring assesses an animal patient’s heart rhythm and rate.  The Holter monitor is a portable electrocardiogram (ECG), which records the electrical activity of the heart continuously over 24 hours.

Your veterinarian may recommend a Holter monitor for several reasons:

  • an arrhythmia is suspected
  • your pet has had collapse or fainting episodes
  • to monitor patients heart rate and rhythm while on certain medications
  • your animal has unexplained dizziness, lethargy, or excessive panting
  • to monitor heart rhythms for animals with a pacemaker

Our Holter service provides:

  • all necessary equipment and instructions for a 24-hour digital Holter monitor recording
  • *a full report with recommendations from a WSU board-certified veterinary cardiologist
  • discounts on recheck Holter monitors for long-term care
